With the holidays quickly approaching, the annual flurry of baking, shopping and entertaining will soon begin. Atlanta Bread Company hopes to help eliminate holiday hassles and make the season brighter by serving as your one-stop resource for holiday cheer. New limited-time menu items for the holidays are just the beginning, as the Bakery Café chain is also sharing its baking expertise with tips for those who like to make their own treats. Baking Tips:

To take the stress out of holiday baking, Atlanta Bread Company offers the following tips:

• Make a baking plan: Pull out old favorite recipes and glance through holiday magazines and Web sites for new ideas ahead of time to make a comprehensive shopping list.
  
• Take inventory of your pantry: Remember that fresh yeast, baking powder and baking soda are necessary for baked goods to rise. These products have a shelf-life, so it’s best to add these inexpensive items to your shopping list if you’re unsure about their freshness.
  
• Mix and bake ahead of time: To avoid last-minute stress, start early on big batches. Prepared dough can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months, and baked goods will retain freshness for three months if tightly wrapped in foil and sealed in an airtight container.
  
• Pre-heat the oven: This common oversight can cause a set-back in your baking preparations, so pay attention to that first important step in your baking instructions.
  
• Measure, don’t guess. In baking, accuracy really counts, so to avoid hard, heavy bread, use a flat surface to measure liquids and level off your dry ingredients with a knife to strictly adhere to the recipe.
